About Karen

I combined my passion for exercise and for people when I started teaching cardio and strength group fitness classes over a decade ago. I have a comprehensive Pilates certification from the Kane School of Core Integration, and have taught everywhere from gyms like the Mercedes Club to corporate settings like Random House Publishing.

When the gyms shut down in 2020, I invited my clients to join me outside for fitness classes. What began as a few people working out together in Riverside Park has grown into a new community of friends and neighbors sweating (and having fun!) together. I have been thrilled to meet so many Upper West Siders, and look forward to meeting more of you!

I moved to the UWS after I had my now 5 year old son, Ben. Before that I spent many years living in Hell’s Kitchen, and touring in musicals before transitioning to fitness. I also recently became a Montessori early education teacher. I love to play my ukulele, playground hop with my son, go to the theatre, and craft!

Karen conducts a really fun, lively and SWEATY class. She gives great instruction and makes sure that everyone feels welcome. And it’s just so fantastic to be freed from the gym and enjoying the great NYC parks! -Erica G

Karen’s Bootcamp is the exercise class I’d been searching for for years. It’s like having a kind, funny personal trainer with the energy of a great class around you. Having the flexibility to switch from in-person to Zoom classes works for my schedule. I’ve been going for about 1.5 years now and have never been so consistent with an exercise regime.
